DU PAGE COUNTY BRINGING OVERSEAS JOBS BACK TO AMERICA
The DuPage County Economic Development Committee agreed on Tuesday to move forward with a proposal that would bring over 800 new jobs to DuPage County, many of which are currently located in China.  The jobs would be created as the result of Peerless Industries, Inc. relocating to DuPage County.   As part of their relocation, Peerless Industries, Inc. will discontinue manufacturing at its China facility, and transfer their manufacturing, distribution and corporate headquarters to the DuPage County portion of Aurora.  

DUPAGE COUNTY ANNOUNCES 2010 SCHOLARSHIP GRANT PROGRAM
The Department of Community Services has received a Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) to fund scholarships for disadvantaged students.  The grant was secured from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.  Applications and supporting documents must be received by May 14, 2010 by 4:30 p.m.  Applications are available at the Jack Knuepfer Administration building, Department of Community Services, 421 N. County Farm Road in Wheaton.

International manufacturer moving to area
Peerless Industries Inc., producer of audiovisual mounting gear, is making plans to move its operations to the former 3M facility on White Oak Circle, on Aurora's far east side. Company President Mike Campagna said the move will begin in May.

A manufacturing company based in Melrose Park that wants to relocate its headquarters to Aurora cleared its first hurdle Wednesday. If approved, the plan would bring more than 800 jobs to DuPage County.
