The County of DuPage

Wheaton, Illinois

A Letter From DuPage County Treasurer Gwen Henry

Dear Fellow Taxpayers:

I prepared this guide to help you navigate the property tax process.  The office of County Treasurer/ex-officio Tax Collector, serving DuPage County, was created by the Illinois Constitution to ensure that we are able to function as an independent Constitutional Office.  This independence makes certain that our citizens, local government and state agencies are all treated equitably and fairly.

The collections and distributions of taxes handled through our office for the 2012 tax year exceeded $2.5 billion, an increase of 2.86% over 2011.  We managed this responsibility through our Wheaton location: a 24/7 website service center with knowledgeable employees and innovative data systems.

The 2012 tax bills reflect any adjustments to your property’s assessed value.  The average across the County was an 8% decrease in assessed value.  The average tax bill reflected a 3.73% increase, closely following the 2012 Consumer Price Index.

In an attempt to provide more information, we have added a line to the bill comparing the assessed value for the two tax years.  We frequently get requests for information on how to contact taxing bodies represented on your bill and we have provided that link on our website.

You are always invited to call 630-407-5900 or email us at dupagetreasurer@dupageco.org for tax payment assistance or with any suggestions for improving our service.

Sincerely,

Gwen Henry, CPA

DuPage County Treasurer
