  • Former Elmhurst College Student Found Guilty of Hate Crime

    DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that after a one-day bench trial, Judge George Bakalis has found Myles Burton, 21 (d.o.b. 12/10/1990) of 1816 S. Cardinal Court, Libertyville, guilty of a Hate Crime for carving anti-African American sentiments on a window ledge outside an Elmhurst College dormitory room in December, 2011.

  • Maywood Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Taxi Robbery

    DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that Curtis Johnson, 29 (d.o.b. 7/22/1982) of Maywood, has been sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for a 2011 armed robbery of a taxi driver in Addison.

  • Former Teacher Sentenced to Six Years for Sexual Assault

    DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced today that a former teacher at Metea Valley High School, Robert Smith, 28 (d.o.b. 8/1/1983) of 19601 Foxford Lane, Mokena, has been sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for sexually assaulting an underage student in 2010.

  • Elmhurst Man Sentenced to Four Years for Leaving the Scene of Fatal Crash

    DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced today that Judge George Bakalis has sentenced Rocio Garza, 23 (d.o.b. 8/23/1988) of 161 W. Van Buren, Elmhurst, to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for his role in a 2010 fatal crash that claimed the life Robert Vincze, 30, of Michigan.

  • Naperville Man Charged with Stealing from Former Employer

    DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that Inam Rahim, 58 (d.o.b. 3/27/1954) of 1708 Conan Doyle Road, Naperville has been charged with stealing more than $210,000 from his former employer, the Islamic Foundation, in Villa Park.

  • Former Treasurer Sentenced to Three Years in Theft From Church

    DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that Robert C. Drefs, 54 (d.o.b. 6/16/1957) of 107 E. Wilson, Elmhurst, was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for stealing more than $54,000 from the Messiah Lutheran Church in Elmhurst.

  • Two Men Indicted in New Home Construction Scheme

    DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced today that Richard Osty, 71 (d.o.b. 9/29/1940) of 10 N. Sheridan, Waukegan and Ronald Moore, 57 (d.o.b. 4/14/1955) of 913 E. Elm, Wheaton, have each been indicted for their role in a new home construction scheme that allegedly bilked investors out of more than $800,000.

Hudson, 51 (d.o.b. 1/3/1961) formerly of Bolingbrook, to 60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the 2010 New Year’s Day murder of his ex-wife, then forty-five year-old Melissa Bridgewater.

Berlin announced today that former Warrenville Alderman Christopher Halley, 28 (d.o.b. 5/18/1983), of 2S030 Ascot Lane, Warrenville, has been sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for swindling thousands of dollars from acquaintances on several occasions and even while on probation for similar charges.
